About L/A
Literacy Tutoring
L/A Literacy Tutoring was established to ensure children have the fundamentals to become bilingual lovers of reading and writing. Literacy is the foundation of a child’s formative years. Children learn through books and illustrations, songs, poems, and conversations. We are in a new phase in education and we are here to support these changes. At L/A Literacy, Tutoring children will successfully thrive in school and become lifelong learners in two languages.
We believe books are the gateway to imagination and curiosity. Books allow children to let their imagination run wild. Children need a space where they can feel successful. L/A Literacy Tutoring is here to support that success!

About Me
Leticia is an educator passionate about bilingual literacy. She is a lover of books, art, music, and traveling. She is a career mom, wife, sister, and a friend.
Leticia earned her B.A in Spanish Literature and a minor in English Literature from U.C. Riverside. She went on to earn a Masters in Curriculum Development and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. Growing up in a bilingual home, she understands the value of foreign languages. This motivated her to earn her bilingual credential from Bank Street College.
Her teaching career spans over 20 years in New York City. While teaching full time in a dual language classroom, she developed curriculum for the program. Her work consists of teaching children with learning disabilities and providing reading intervention. She believes teachers are lifelong learners and has concentrated on speech therapy classes and teaching children on the Autism Spectrum through the NEST Program at New York University. She is also certified in the Orton-Gillingham Approach FUNDATIONS and Wilson Reading System.
As a mother raising a bilingual child, she understands the intricacy that is involved in learning two languages. Bilingual children have linguistic needs that require support and guidance.
She believes it takes a village to raise children and she is here to support that journey!

“Do not train children to learning by force and harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds,
so that you may be better able to discover with
accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”
